CAMHS Parents and Carers Event

Christmas Pack for Parents

About the Programme:

The National Autistic Society EarlyBird (parents whose children are aged up to 5) and EarlyBirdPlus (parents whose children are aged 5-9) are programmes for families whose child/children have a diagnosis or are likely to receive a diagnosis of autism. Through the EarlyBird programme, parents and carers will learn more about autism. Two carers from each family can attend the 8-week programme and discover new ways to support their child, following a diagnosis.

 

Topics Covered Include:

  • Improving communications and interactions with children under five
  • Using structure to support their child in a range of settings and situations
  • Developing basic play and social skills
  • Understanding and supporting their child's behaviour

 

Gill Stoll and Louise Pryce are the National Autistic Society EarlyBird trainers for Riverside School. We work with parents and carers of autistic children.

 

The group sessions will be held at Morelands School, Crookhorn, PO7 5QL.

 

Commencing at times 9:30-11:30am on:

  • Wednesday 11th January
  • Wednesday 18th January
  • Wednesday 25th January
  • Wednesday 1st February
  • Wednesday 8th February
  • Wednesday 22nd February
  • Wednesday 1st March
  • Wednesday 8th March

 

We ask for a voluntary donation of £35. This covers the cost of your copy of the EarlyBird Parent Book. Parents and carers should be able to commit to all sessions. Please email louise.pryce@riverside.hants.sch.uk or gill.stoll@riverside.hants.sch.uk for more information and to sign up.

Lots of children have worries and anxieties that make their lives difficult.

 

TIMID TO TIGER is a free, 7-week parenting course that looks at different ways and strategies to reduce and manage these feelings, helping everyone to overcome their fears and worries.

Havant and Waterlooville Get Together

Havant and Waterlooville Get Together with parent carers of children and young people with additional needs.

 

"Our Get Togethers are a chance to share experiences, discuss local issues, and enjoy an informal session with other local parents. There will be regular guest speakers, tea/coffee/biscuits, support each other in your roles as parent carers."

THOMAS Training - Hampshire & Isle of Wight Educational Psychology Training

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Educational Psychology THOMAS Training (For supporting children aged five and under with social communication needs/Autism)

  • To develop and improve the educational experience of Hampshire children with complex social communication difficulties.
  • Suitable for parents and staff across a range of educational settings working with children throughout the foundation stage, run by two Educational Psychologists.
  • This course offers a balance of theoretical perspectives, including the nature of the Autism spectrum and in-depth practical approaches/supportive strategies.
  • If possible, it will be delivered in person (Covid-19 pandemic dependent - dates and times below).
  • If we are unable to meet in person, the course has been adapted to be delivered online via Microsoft TEAMS over three half days.

 

It includes:

  • Theories, strengths and needs for children with Autism/social communication needs
  • Structured approaches to learning and living (e.g. visual support systems)
  • Developing communication and interaction (including the supportive strategies of imitation, special time, picture communication systems and social stories)
  • Frameworks for assessing and developing play (including identiplay and play scripts)
  • Understanding and managing behaviour
  • Sensory issues and supportive approaches
