Parenting Programmes and Courses

Please find information below about parenting programmes and educational courses available to you and your families:

 

About the Programme:

The National Autistic Society EarlyBird (parents whose children are aged up to 5) and EarlyBirdPlus (parents whose children are aged 5-9) are programmes for families whose child/children have a diagnosis or are likely to receive a diagnosis of autism. Through the EarlyBird programme, parents and carers will learn more about autism. Two carers from each family can attend the 8-week programme and discover new ways to support their child, following a diagnosis.

 

Topics Covered Include:

  • Improving communications and interactions with children under five
  • Using structure to support their child in a range of settings and situations
  • Developing basic play and social skills
  • Understanding and supporting their child's behaviour

 

Gill Stoll and Chantelle Harries are the National Autistic Society EarlyBird trainers for Riverside School. We work with parents and carers of autistic children.

We ask for a voluntary donation of £35. This covers the cost of your copy of the EarlyBird Parent Book. Parents and carers should be able to commit to all sessions. Please email Chantelle.Harries@riverside.hants.sch.uk or gill.stoll@riverside.hants.sch.uk for more information and to sign up.

Does your child struggle with Anxiety?

Do they worry about everything?

 

Lots of children have worries and anxieties that make their lives difficult.

 

TIMID TO TIGER is a free, 7-week parenting course that looks at different ways and strategies to reduce and manage these feelings, helping everyone to overcome their fears and worries.

Havant and Waterlooville Get Together with parent carers of children and young people with additional needs.

 

"Our Get Togethers are a chance to share experiences, discuss local issues, and enjoy an informal session with other local parents. There will be regular guest speakers, tea/coffee/biscuits, support each other in your roles as parent carers."
