National Lockdown update - Friday 8th January 2021
Dear Parents and Carers
I hope that you are all well and staying warm and well at home.
This lockdown period is far more serious than in April of 2020, when cases of Coronavirus seemed few and far between. Since December, I know of more than 25 families within our school community that have had the virus and they have been quite unwell as a direct consequence. The prevalence of the virus in the Havant area (920 new cases this week) means that I have had to make some tough decisions in school with staffing and pupil numbers. My responsibility is to ensure that each person in school has the minimum number of staff and pupil contacts - so that we don't spread the virus. As a consequence I have to limit the number of pupils in each classroom so that we try to prevent them becoming hubs of transmission. Other control measures include good ventilation, frequent handwashing, wiping all multi touch surfaces each time you use them (such as door handles) and putting in place a one way system through the school.
Thank you to all parents who have made the decision (sometimes not an easy one) to keep their child at home. As required, we will be welcoming our key worker children and a limited number of other pupils into the school on a regular basis from Monday. Please remember that these arrangements could change over time. As we all stick to the rules, then the transmission level will drop, and I will be able to welcome more pupils in to the school.
Information about Free School Meals should follow in the next week.
You will be receiving information from your class teachers about new home learning activities, along with some visual prompts and helpful tips. We are here to help you and many of the activities are fun and engaging for your children - they include singing, games and stories. Each session is broken down into small steps that you will be able to follow together. Please do try to be consistent about setting aside time each day to engage with school.
Please do stay in touch - we are here every day - and no question is too big or too silly.
Stay warm and stay safe
